SHORT STORY PRIZE

A biennial literature prize awarded to the writer of a short story in a Ghanaian Language.

The Ghanaian Languages Short story prize is a literature prize awarded to a writer of a short story in an indigenous Ghanaian Language. The prize is to increase the visibility of literature in Ghanaian languages in mainstream society nationally as well as globally while highlighting the rich, diverse and multilingual nature of Ghana.

For the 2019 prize, the prize focuses on stories written in Ga, Dangbe, Twi, Ewe, Fante and Dagbani.

The best story under each language category will be awarded 1500 Cedis each.

Winning stories will be published as an anthology in two formats.

1. An electronic book (e-book) available for download.

2. Physical copies for sale at various outlets.

Each publication will include translations in English in order to make the them accessible to people who are not fluent in all the languages published.
